Barley's Taproom and Pizzeria has announced their intention to open a new venue in Downtown Maryville, in the old Roy's Record Shop building. Barley's owner Randy Burleson says they will adjust the format to meet the needs of clientele in Maryville and Blount County. The music will be upstairs, separate from the dining room, and the shows will start much earlier, around 7 or 8 PM. There will still be pool tables, again upstairs.

Barley's isn't a replacement for the loss of Tomato Head, but it will be a great addition to Downtown. They even say they'll be open for lunch. I do wish they would add a small outdoor patio out front.

Sunspot food

The Daily Times article quotes the owner as saying there will be Sunspot food at Barley's Maryville. This is good, as the loss of Tomato Head means the loss of any place to eat if you are not a meateater or addicted to french fries.

Wonderful. I did not know

Wonderful. I did not know the offerings of Sunspot. I've only been there once, probably five + years ago.
