Henry C. Taylor was shot by a Blount County Sheriff's officer on his property at 1856 Mentor Road in Louisville. The full story may never be known since Mr. Taylor is dead. Reports indicate there had been thefts at the property and Mr. Taylor and his wife had asked the BCSO for assistance. Mr. Taylor was shot by a 22 year old deputy who had been on the job for about eight months.

Mr. Taylor was a graduate of Carter High School in Knoxville and a retired Air Force veteran, having served 20 years. He also retired as a captain with the Tennessee State Guard and worked as a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years. Taylor was also an amateur radio operator.
