Commission chairman, Dr. Bob Ramsey is announcing his bid for the Tennessee House of Representatives seat being vacated by Doug Overbey. Here's what Ramsey says he plans to do for us:

"If elected, I will try to support the moral and ethical principles of Blount County citizens, our educational system, the protection of the physical and economic well-being of our citizens, the equitable and efficient responsibility for revenues, law and order and the protection of our natural surroundings."

His quote rings hollow. Chairman Ramsey, what have you done for us lately? Ramsey, like many of his mild-mannered Republicans, have allowed the thug-Republicans to rule. Rather than purging the party of the elected officials he KNOWS are sinister souls, he's done NOTHING. He's looked the other way while citizens have been followed home, harassed and intimidated. He's turned a blind eye to conflicts of interest. He's never taken elected officials to task over questionable expenditures.

If he can't represent us here at home, there's no reason for us to believe he will do justice to the job in Nashville.

...he's done NOTHING.I was

...he's done NOTHING.

I was trying to think, and maybe Ramsey supporters can help, but what has he done? Every county around us has had issues of malfeasance and criminality in their government. But not ours. Everything and everybody stays squeaky clean.

I guess he has done something.

Step forward if you'd rather

Step forward if you'd rather have Steve Hargis!

That's an excellent point!

Compared to Hargis, Ramsey is as progressive as the day is long.

Actually, I think Ramsey is a darn nice guy. I wish he could do more to end the ugliness that is Blount County gov't, but he has done a great job so far on the Planning Commission and you really can't say he is the status quo of Blount County Republicans.

Nice ain't helping

I think you both point out the problem. What blog am I on? Is this really only a lesser of two evils option?

I have no qualms with what Ramsey has done. It's what he hasn't done that's the problem. No educated person can look at that vehicle report and not see problems. And if you see the problems, and do nothing, how are you serving the people?

I'd like to think this isn't true...

But could it be that Ramsey has observed the treatment of Wendy Pitts Reeves and a few others in the past and made a decision years ago that the other cheek must be turned for one to progress through the ranks?
