More than Marble

The Daily Times has written two features Link... , Link... on the marble used at the new Newseum in DC. I too am proud of the role our fellow Blount Countians have played in this effort. Tennessee Marble Company should be applauded for their achievements.

While one article mentioned the text on the 170-ton, 74-foot high, 52-foot wide marble tablet, the text was not reprinted within the article. I'm afraid The Daily Times staff might assume most people know the text of our 1st Amendment.

I'm afraid too many don't. Following is the text of our 1st Amendment and the tablet;

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Link...

I didn’t know democraps

I didn’t know democraps were aware of the “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” portion of the amendment. I’m impressed.
