All but one of 20 county commissioners at a commission workshop do not want the proposed Tennessee state law "that would allow courts and police officers to restrict guns from people deemed an extreme risk." "Under the bill, courts could be petitioned to issue an “extreme risk protection order” against an individual, prohibiting them from purchasing, possessing, or being in control of firearms or ammunition." "The petition can be filed by law enforcement officers or by those with a close relationship to the respondent, and must demonstrate evidence that the respondent poses a “significant risk” to themselves or others by possessing a firearm."

The Blount County resolution filed by Commissioners Steve Mikels and Nick Bright declares that commissioners “each took an oath to support and defend the United States Constitution and the laws which are not deemed unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction.”

The Preamble to the U.S. Constitution,

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

I'm thinking the "insure domestic Tranquility, Promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessing of Liberty" parts should allow us to "restrict guns from people deemed an extreme risk where evidence can be demonstrated that the respondent poses a “significant risk” to themselves or others by possessing a firearm."
