Alcoa Pedestrian Bridge Grand Opening

When: Wed. December 31, 1969 6:00 PM

According to the City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department, Grand Opening at the Alcoa City Municipal Building.

Attendees will be able to walk across the bridge after the ceremony.

UPDATE: We checked out the bridge yesterday. Here is a virtual walk across the bridge.

Drove under the bridge tonight. At night - all you see is "OF". Terrible use of lighting. "City" and "Alcoa" is not even visable. Money well spent?

A City of Alcoa engineer mentioned the low lighting the day of the grand openeing and said something about trying to brighten it up. Maybe they are working on it.

Alcoa Bridge

I would not consider such a bridge complete until it is entirely wrapped in chicken wire to prevent the boys from throwing off chunks of concrete into the traffic below. Note to traffic engineer: You know it is going to happen so why not fix it now rather than later after some innocent motorist is killed.

Glad to see the huge lines of people waiting to cross the Alcoa highway on the green belt walkway are relieved thanks to $1.5 mil of federal stimulus money. Thanks for nothing.
