Sometimes our government acts outside the bounds of its mission. It's up to the people to correct their government. The peoples main source of their governments actions is a free press.
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
"The people" is not an option in the poll. As in the preamble to The United States Constitution, "We the People" of the United States are the most important part of our government. We must always be vigilant to ensure this country remains great.
However, without a free press, we have neither access to news of what our gov't is doing so that we CAN be vigilant nor a voice in disputing or lauding those actions where called for. Our voice includes voting, of course, and it is difficult to be an informed voter without free press.
I'm sorry I'm not old enough ever to have known a legislative vote for war in the name of the people. In my lifetime those have always been executive decisions based on bad intelligence. The people also typically fall for the bad intelligence when it's sold to them by the media.
